Summer shimmer makeup tutorial

Hello my Fashionsistas,

The weather in Sydney has just been crazy lately; we had hot and sunny clear blue-sky days last week and now this week there have been really heavy thunderstorms! It’s been so cold so I’ve just been chilling at home playing with makeup.

You may had seen on my Instagram that I recently went on a little shopping spree at the Giorgio Armani Beauty Counter, I only went to the counter with the intention to buy one product and ended up leaving with four –! So today I decided to film a tutorial of a very natural summer shimmer makeup look using my new new Giorgio Armani products!

This look is a very natural look, it could almost be a no-makeup-makeup tutorial because in the summer heat you don’t want to be wearing too much makeup. Plus when using shimmer makeup, you don’t want to be using too much because shimmery products can be over powering and you can end up looking way to shiny if you use too much – you only want to just softly glow so it looks very natural.

Watch the below video to learn how to create a summer shimmer makeup look for healthy glowing skin.

You can find all the products I used today in my beauty box.

And remember, you don’t need to be a model to look like you’ve stepped off the runway – you just need a killer wardrobe and some lipstick!

Big love,
xox Marina

PS – If you can’t watch this video right now, here are all the steps.

Step 1 - prime

As I’m going to be applying quite shimmery products to my face today, I’m going to use a matte primer. My favourite Matte Primer is the Benefit Pore Fessional Pro Balm and I applied this using my fingertips. My hands were clean and sanitized – always a must before touching your face!

Step 2 – foundation

For foundation, I used Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk (I’m in the shade number 7) this foundation is sooooo lovely, it really does feel like silk against my skin and gives off a beautiful soft glow finish. I blended my foundation in with a Zoeva 125 Stippling Brush.

Step 3 – concealer

Purchase number two from the Giorgio Armani counter was the Master Corrector Concealer (shade number 2) I applied this under my eyes and also in any places where I had any redness. I then buffed it out with a Zoeva 142 Concealer Buffer Brush.

Step 4 – creating a fresh summer glow

This is my favourite part of the tutorial – creating flawless and glowing summer skin! I contoured my face using two shades from the Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer range.

First I took the darker fluid sheer (shade number 3) which is a bronze shade, and using a Zoeva 110 Face Definer Brush I applied the bronzer in all areas of my face that I wanted to define: underneath my cheek bones, along my jaw line and around my forehead. I then gently blended that in to my skin by pressing a damp beauty blender sponge over the product.

After the bronzer is all blended and looks as though it’s ‘second skin’, I cleaned my Zoeva 110 Face Definer Brush and then took the highlighter shade; Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer in number 3, which is a soft gold shade, and placed this on the high points of my cheekbones, in between my eyebrows, down the bridge of my nose, at my cupids bow and at the centre of my chin. I then used a clean side of my damp beauty blender and pressed it over the product like I did with the dark liquid bronzer.

I then set all the liquid in using a Dior Skin Translucent Loose Powder (number 002) to take the edge off the shimmer a little. It’s important to use a very lightweight powder that isn’t going to give you any coverage. You only want to set your liquid products.

Step 5 – brows & eyes

I went for a very minimal eye look by only filling in my eyebrows lightly using MAC Matte Eye Shadow in Espresso.

I then used my Urban Decay Naked Palette to create a soft gold eye look, first I placed the shade ‘Naked’ all over my eyelid using a Zoeva 222 Luxe All Over Shader Brush, I then placed the shade ‘Half Baked’ through my crease using a Zoeva 228 Crease Brush. Here I’ll also pop a little of that Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer in number two on my brow bone to highlight it a little. I did this with my finger to give it a really soft touch. For Mascara I used DiorShow.

Step 6 – finishing touches

To add some colour to my face I used a Coral Shade Blush from the Zoeva Sun Power Palette on the apples of my cheeks, and then matched my lipstick to the blush by using MAC Cremshen Lipstick in the colour Ravishing – one of my most favourite summer lipstick shades!
