DIY natural skin care with lemons

Hi fashionsistas!

Lemons have been used for hundreds of years on both skin and hair because they have an amazing range of beauty benefits.

When used on your skin, the citric acid in lemons penetrate through the pores to remove excess oils, dirt, dead skin cells and even blemishes leaving you with a brighter complexion and healthier looking skin.

Lemon & Sugar Cleansing Scrub

What you’ll need:

½ a lemon

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon raw honey

Raw sugar (desired amount)

What to do:

Combine the juice of half a lemon with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and whisk with a fork until combined.

Add 1 teaspoon of raw honey and mix until it becomes a medium consistency then add in about a tablespoon of raw sugar.  You can add more sugar to make the mixture this thicker if you feel it needs more scrub.

Then gently massage the scrub all over your face, be sure to avoid the eye area as lemon juice can sting your eyes. Once you feel that you've exfoliated enough just wipe it away with a damp towel or rinsing it off with warm water.

The Lemon Face Lift Mask

What you’ll need:

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons of yoghurt

What to do:

Combine a tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice with 2 tablespoons of good quality natural yoghurts and mix well.

Apply the mask to your face after cleansing avoiding the eye area and leave it to dry for about 20-30 minutes.

You'll feel a tightening on your face, which creates the lifting and firming effect.

Once all dry (it will dry clear), wipe it off with a warm towel or rinse it off with warm water.

It's important to test any homemade beauty products on sensitive skin like on the inside of your wrist to make sure that you don't have a bad reaction to any ingredients. So always remember to do a quick patch test before applying anything to your face.
